    I “borrowed” this cartoon. I sent it in an email to one of my ole’ surveying bosses. I hope you don’t mind. It just has a special meaning, an inside joke if you will. Nice to still see an instrument man!!! lol

    I have seen this…. Inst station just HAPPENED to turn out to be within 0.71′ of an old survey monument…

    I won a night of free beer. I was helping out a friend who had just purchased a robot that we used in manual mode. He never took the time to change his data collector settings, so every shot autotracked. Last setup, we had a shot within 5′ and the instrument man said we’ll have to setup again. I asked why, got a good bet out of him, then showed him the disable button on the instrument. We took the shot and I was the hero… Does not happen often, I’m usually the villain asking how the work was done, why they didn’t perform one more check or why the office calcs were done the way they were…
